Bot Bans Rampant
Last month Guild Wars suspended over 1000 accounts for bot farming, and Enola Reach is far less busy these days. http://www.guildwars.com/newsarchive/2006-05.php
Well World of Warcraft followed suit, banning over 30,000 accounts for bot farming, removing over 30 million in gold from the WOW economy. http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.aspx?fn=wow-general&t=8653370
It doesn’t stop there, Square-Enix banned 250 accounts from Final Fantasy XI Online. “Thanks to these measures, more than 250 billion gil has been removed from circulation.” http://www.playonline.com/ff11eu/polnews/news7776.shtml
Update: At the beginning of July GuildWars cut another 4000 “suspected” bots. Turns out they were wrong on most and had to restore a lot of them. They blame the software used to assess if someone is using bot behavior.
