Hoverboard Tours
Hoverboard Tour: Three Islands
This is one of series of exploration guides
for There.
While many people will guide you to all the cool places via teleporting to
bookmarks, the purpose of these tours is to show where all the cool places are
relative to one another, so you can travel from one to the other.
These are called "Hoverboard Tours" only because that is how I travel.
Pretty much all forms of transportation can be used. You should enable your
compass to make use of these tours.
**Starting Point: The Atoll**
Enter this link in your There Browser to teleport
to the beginning of this tour:
http://webapps.prod.there.com/goto/goto?placename=The+Atoll
You should appear on top of the tiny island I like to call "Big Air
Atoll" because it is a great place for hoverboarding. You can circle the
big mountain around the natural "half pipe" or use the center hill as
a really big ramp.
**Ring of Heads**
Head north towards the second island Nada Island. When you get across the
channel you will find a four Easter Island heads arranged in a circle, with
crates in the middle. These Easter Island heads appear all over the outer edge
of this island.
**The Castaway Camp**
Keep heading North and when you get the travel center the path will split in
two. These paths reconnect later, but we will take the one on the right for now.
Nada Island has recently become a popular place to build elaborate PortaZone
homes
A ways down the path and the road splits again (actually this is where the left
road rejoins the right road), and again take the right. Eventually you will come
up on a tent on a hill. Look around the camp and you will find another Easter
Island head and the wreckage of a boat. If you climb up the hill you will find
seven Easter Island heads with boxes and oil drums in a group.
**The Mushrooms**
From the Castaway Camp, go back the way you came (North West) and when you come to the first split in
the path, stick to the right again. Eventually the path will go up a ridge to an
overlook where you will have a clear view of Ootay Island.
Looking across to the other island, you should see a bunch of gray rocks among
some trees. Line up your board (North North West) and fire the boosters. You
will drop a long ways before you hit the ocean, but keep heading for those rocks
and trees.
When you finally get to the rocks, a fog will cover you. steer around the rocks
and you will find Enoki Hollow which everyone calls "The Mushroom
Patch"
**The Big Mouth Bonfire**
Boarding through the mushroom fields is not easy, but keep heading through them
north west. Once you pass them the fog will clear and you will see Maidenflight
just ahead.
Since they do not allow vehicles in Maidenflight, make a left turn (West) into the tall palm trees to avoid the village. While we are in the neighborhood, you might like to know that there is a secret tree house inside of that gigantic tree sticking out of Aero Lounge. The area does not allow vehicles, but you can use a hoverpack to get to the tree house if you stay high.
Aim for the big hill, but when you get
there go around it to the left (south).
You should see a smaller hill as you turn, go around this hill also to the right
(south west). On the other side of a small valley you should see a clump of
trees, head there (south west).
As you approach the ridge, the sky will fog up again. On the top of this ridge
is a cryptic marker next to a small fire. It contains symbols similar to a
temple in Monkey Crater which you can find on "The Ruins Tour"
Go down the hill, you will find, an idol, to admire. Follow the Tiki Torches to a
large bonfire in the fog, and finally a big head with a mouth big enough to walk
through.
Lots of cool stuff so close together.
**The Fallen Head and Little Bridge**
Pass through or around the big mouth and then make a right turn South West, over
a bump in the road the ground will get flat heading west.
Follow the western flats through the fog and you will eventually come upon a
couple of fires. These have marshmallows and seating for 12. Between these fires is a curious beige brown rock which turns out to be another big head,
but this one is tipped over on its side.
Near the head you will find a big hand, and a little
bridge which is just west of the head and where we are gong next.
**The Light House**
Continue west and eventually the fog breaks, but keep on a westerly path and
eventually you will see the Light House in the distance. As you approach you may
find two more marshmallow campfires in front of the lighthouse.
The light house looks burned and unusable, but it affords a great view of the
three islands we just visited!
If you want to explore further, follow the beach further to the left and you
will find a large tan rock that looks like a crab. Climb the hill behind it and
you will find a well hidden hot tub.
This ends the hoverboard tour, hope you enjoyed it!

Hoverboard Tour: Desert Adventure
This is the one of a series of exploration guides for There.
While many people will guide you to all the cool places via teleporting to bookmarks, the purpose of these tours is to show where all the cool places are relative to one another, so you can travel from one to the other.
These are called "Hoverboard Tours" only because that is how I travel. Pretty much all forms of transportation can be used. You should enable your compass to make use of these tours.
**Start Point: Sirocco**
Enter this link in your There Browser to teleport
to the beginning of this tour:
http://webapps.prod.there.com/goto/goto?placename=Sirocco
Camp Sirocco is a "redneck" shopping area and hang out. This place is hilariously decorated with barbed wire, rusted oil cans, tires, and even a rusted out car frame that you can sit in.
Things to look for: There are two fires in Sirocco, one in an oil can and one in a barbecue pit with an armadillo roasting over it.
Here's a fun little shoplifting trick you can
try. First, find the booth that sell camouflage clothes. Take off your shirt and
pants so that you are in your underwear. "Try on" the camoflage shirt and
pants (there is a set for each gender) then run as fast as you can to the east.
If you are fast enough, when the 30 seconds runs out the clothes will flicker
then come right back on. You will only keep them temporarily though. Don't
teleport with borrowed clothes or you will arrive in your undies.
**The Three Hot Tubs**
Get out the board and hop on, head north to the back of Sirocco and climb up the
hill. Once on top head towards a trio of houses. Head that direction.
Behind the houses to the north, there is a dip in the mountains with sand colored boulders and Saguaro Cacti. Head for those and go between them.
As you go over the ridge you will find three hot tubs. This is a good place to bring a group of six or less since there is almost always at least one vacant tub available.
**The Old Windmill and Hollow Hill Tower**
Head out the way you came (south) and when you reach the houses, turn west and
follow a light yellow path that passes in the middle of those three houses. This
path is a popular place for port-a-zone housing.
Eventually you will come to an old windmill. The windmill
has about four stories to it, a couple of them are completely hidden from view
if you are looking for places to hide.
There is also a small gazebo you can visit or just pass it on the right.
From here you can see to the north west another desert formation that looks like a look out tower on top of a hill. To reach it take a sharp right turn up the steep cliffs then over. The hill is hollow and filled with crates and oil drums. If you hover up, people like to put living room furniture in the tower top.
**Mirage**
Drop back down to the houses below the mountain then make a right turn onto the trail (west). The trail will end when the houses end. Keep going West over a small ridge then turn left down the canyon face. You will find a gypsy looking shopping village called Mirage.
Things to look for: a large hollow cave (usually
filled with furniture), and a cafe built in a tent (the only one I know of).
**Dune Pools and Secret Pool**
Head east from Mirage then follow along the right canyon wall in the south east direction. Eventually you will find yourself in a narrow
sub canyon which will end abruptly. Climb over the ridge and you will find yourself in a hidden oasis filled with cacti. In the middle you will find a bunch of pools and waterfalls.
But, in the back of this one you will find a door which will lead you to a secret hot tub (I
don't know why they call it a secret, everybody knows about it and it is always crowded, which is why the three hot tubs we saw earlier are a better bet)
Behind the dune pools are two overlook huts with
12 seat outdoor bars. There are three 12 seat outdoor bars grand total, the
third is at the "Old Waterin' Hole" up the hill from Sirocco where
this tour used to start before it got too crowded.
**Zephyr**
From the Dune Pools head east, to your left you should see in a play area a bunch of rock formations right out of a Coyote and Roadrunner cartoon. This is the popular and fun "Buggy Arena" which even if there is not a race or a track affords buggy fun in a loop and some natural ramps and arches.
Hang a right turn (south) and head into the canyon you see there (there are a couple of canyons on the south but they all lead to the same place). You will find the fabulous Zephyr which has an "Air Ship" launching tower complete with an actual Air Ship you can hover up to.
This is also one of three "spa" areas,
there are also numerous places to try on clothes.
**The Hollow**
From Zephyr, head east out through the east canyon then turn left (north) around the hill on your left. Once you are
back out in the open, follow the canyon wall on your right heading east as you do.
You will come to a place where the canyon splits into three gorges, Stay to the right,
all three paths lead to something interesting, but the one on the right is the
most interesting.
A ways down this canyon, you will find a hollow hill here and some rock paintings. If you go inside, you can climb to the
top window. You may find storage equipment on the bottom and stalactites on the top.
**Tuma (a.k.a. Goth Town)**
Continue down the path South West, you will pass under a "Rainbow Bridge" formation, and then the path will get dark, smoky and scary as you reach the lava beds. Here a spooky town is built in the smoke. Stuff to look for: McCobbs
bar where you can sit and get knives in your back, shrunken heads, two "gas fires" (one is a double flame). Great macabre fun!
**The "Mushroom" Fires**
We are out of the desert at this point, but there is one last cool spot that is too close to pass up.
Head south through Tuma until the mountain wall on the right ends, Turn right (west) toward some large Tiki houses in the smoke and Oak Trees. The smoke will clear up as you pass through the neighborhood. Aim for a dip in the hill at the back of this neighborhood, it is just above an out of place brown patch on the side of the hill, and when you get there climb to the dip. At the top continue to head west avoiding some unusually deep pot holes.
At some point your board will disappear as you
hit a no vehicle zone. You will see trees ahead, run to them and it will get
foggy. In the woods, you will find mushrooms, and three campfires.
This ends the hoverboard tour, hope you enjoyed it!

Hoverboard Tour: The
Ruins Tour
This is one of a series of exploration guides for There.
**Starting Point: Star Garden**
Enter this link in your There Browser to teleport
to the beginning of this tour:
http://webapps.prod.there.com/goto/goto?placename=Star+Garden
This hoverboard tour will visit all the main ancient archaeological sites on Caldera, six in all.
Pull up your map of Tiki and look for the Red Push Pin labeled Star Garden in Monkey Crater. You should be near a road and a bunch of oak trees. The Purple Flower Garden you see nearby will be on the tour as we circle back here later.
**The Rock Maze**
Take out your hoverboard and get on and point your board North east, to the right side of the main road, toward a bunch of oak trees. Take off in that direction and head through the valley.
You may have to slalom around the thick growth of trees here but as long as you head in a general north east direction (a good reference is the top of the big volcano which you will see in the distant fog).
Eventually you will get to a grassy ridge which when you fly over hides a large number of dark gray boulders which form a maze in the general shape of a heart.
**Ruins #1: Lesser Tuma**
Exit the rocks through the west pass then make a quick right turn north and you will see the main entrance to Lesser Tuma.
Five of the six ruins are found in paintball fun zones. If you find a game going on and do not want to explore you can come back later.
The ruins of Caldera are all based on Mayan designs, do a Google search for "Chichen Itza", "Palenque" or "Uxmal" if you want to see the real life inspirations.
Lesser Tuma is built with the trees in mind. with many towers to climb and bridges to walk from one tower to the next. You may find an empty coffin here. You can jump into the empty coffin and find a secret room!!
**Dark Temple of the Four Elements**
From the entrance of Lesser Tuma head north west over a ridge and into a valley of oak trees. When you reach the oak trees you should see another green gray path heading west, Take it. The path will reach a reddish brown hill and turn south. Stop here and look to the north west.
Hidden inside the trees is a small temple. Inside is a dark room with a single beam of light and a spinning crystal with the symbols for the four elements. (land, water, air and fire).
The symbols on the front of the temple match those found on a marker you can see on the Three Islands Tour.
**Ruins #2: Tuma Tower**
From the mystery temple, head west. You should eventually see in the fog a tall tower which is in the Tuma Tower Fun Zone.
This particular tower is inspired by a real life tower in Palenque Mexico though the round courtyard next to it is rare in real Mayan ruins. Most round structures in Mayan culture are solar observatories used to mark the seasons. This one is just neat to look at and play in.
**Ruins #3: Tuma Gara**
From the entrance to the Tuma Tower fun zone, point your hoverboard north and fire the boosters. Start climbing the high crater rim and as you climb point your board to the highest peak you see. When you get to the top you should find an ancient looking lookout tower. There are six of these total, two each guarding the north, south and east entrances. You should see another on the other side of the entrance. (If you want to visit the other tower, you will find a second less fortified tower right behind it. Could these be earlier prototype lookouts?)
From the lookout above Tuma Tower you will find a light green cobblestone path that starts northwest of the tower but then heads generally west. Follow this path to Tuma Gara.
Climb the "Castle" like pyramid (see "Chichen Itza" reference above) using the ramps. The first one is on the eastern face.
**Ruins #4: Tuma Grande**
From the entrance to Tuma Gara, head southwest to the top of the ridge, then point directly south toward a bunch of broken pillar stumps. Head directly south and do not worry that there are mountains and valleys and the occasional tree in the way. Behind the broken pillars we saw at the top of the hill, you will find Tuma Grande, possibly the largest ruin in There. The central pyramid is inspired by the "Pyramid of the Magician" in Uxmal Mexico.
There is a secret "chicken room" inside the pyramid and here is the best method I know to get in: You will need a buggy and a hover pack. Climb the first set of stairs to the top of the pyramid base. then stand close to a pyramid wall facing the wall (do not try this on the steps of the pyramid). Take out your buggy, it should go through the wall, possibly inside the wall. Click on "Ride Shotgun" then "Get Out" (if the buggy goes completely through the wall and there are no action arrows then use the options in your "My Things" menu.)
You should now be inside the pyramid and the walls will look invisible. Walk to the middle of the base and put on your hover pack. Go up until the walls look solid again then get off. You should be in a gray walled room with a picture of a chicken on it.
**Ruins #5: Mura Kami (The Labyrinth)**
From the entrance of Tuma Grande head east and pay no attention to the fact that you have to climb over three mountains to get to the labyrinth.
There are three towers surrounding a maze like structure. I do not know of any Mayan ruins with such a structure but it is reminiscent of the Roman Coliseum. This fun zone was largely built with paint ball in mind and not historical accuracy. It is, by the way, my favorite paintball fun zone.
**The Purple Flowers**
From the entrance of Mura Kami, point your board south west and climb up the steep ridge to the south you see there. On top you will find a straight and flat light green cobblestone road lined with column stumps.
Once you pass the pillar column stumps, look to the right hand side and head for the thick grove of trees there. Behind these trees you will find a gazebo. When you get there you will find it is surrounded by giant purple flowers, which only exist in this one spot.
**The Tuma "Witches" Fire**
From the flowers point your board south west toward a mountain and start climbing to the top. When you get there you will find another thick wooded area of Oak trees, go in a ways and it will get foggy.
Hidden in these trees are a series of arches and another bonfire which a friend of mine likes to call "The Witches Fire" for the arches in the four compass directions.
**The Jungle Pools**
The main entrance to this fire seems to be the series of arches to the east.
Pass through these arches, if you are on a board, you may have to duck (right
mouse button) and rocket (left mouse button) to get under the last four arches. Keep
going straight (East) down into the valley and up the hill on the other side.
When you get to the top of the next mountain, make a slight right turn heading
southeast. You should see some more oak trees and big rocks and then suddenly
your board will disappear as you enter a no vehicle zone. Around the rocks and
through the trees you will find a series of pools and waterfalls! By the way
there is a secret pool you can enter in the back of the highest waterfall.
**Ruins #6: Altus Tuma**
Go behind the highest waterfall and climb over the green hill (East) to the other side. Run East until you are able to get your hoverboard back out.
Soon you will find the last set of ruins on:
Altus Tuma.
This is again inspired by the tower in Palenque and has what looks to be a temple here and a cemetery. There are what look to be the remains of a second tower scattered on the ground.
This must be holy ground since it is the only ruin site not turned into a paintball fun zone.
This ends the hoverboard tour, hope you enjoyed it!

Hoverboard Tour: The Island of Tyr
This is one of series of exploration guides for There.
**Starting Point: Tyr Tower Gate Waypoint**
Enter this link in your There Browser to teleport
to the beginning of this tour:
http://webapps.prod.there.com/goto/goto?placename=Tyr+Tower+Gate
Welcome to Tyr! This is a weird and wonderful island, and if you are a hoverboard fan it is a world perfect for you.
Notice the high walls and narrow trenches, it may look spooky and intimidating to most, but to a hoverboard junkie it looks like a wonderful skate park of half pipes.
Because Tyr is largely vacant I will be using these tombstone shaped markers as guides. There should be one close, they have symbols on them, usually different ones on either side. They serve as road signs for Tyr.
Interesting curiosity, The island of Tyr was
named after the Norse god of war and strength. But, the runic spelling found on the castle texture looks like
the Greek letters Theta
Upsilon Rho, which would be pronounced "There"!
**Weird Sound Point**
The waypoint for Tyr is in a place we will visit later, so this tour
will take a figure 8 shape around the island. Head south away from the castle
toward a marker that has a circle with a dot in the middle and a lollipop shape.
We are going to follow this path south, as you do, you will pass a second
marker with a circle and dot in the middle. Keep going south.
Stop at the third circle with dot marker, as the
road splits in two here. Take the path on the right (west) toward a sign in the distance and head over there.
You should see an up arrow and a circle with a dot in the middle on this sign. Drop down into the small canal behind this sign and stop.
LISTEN... This point has all the sounds of Tyr playing simultaneously and it is really weird.
NEW! **Swimming Hole**
Follow this channel West. It circles the island so eventually it will curve north west then north.
When you get pointing north west, watch out for some puddles in the middle of
the road. There are big rocks and crystals on the road ahead.
The first set of rocks will have a set of stairs and guide rail, follow the stairs around the rocks and it will weave through the rocks and end up in a swimming hole. This deep pool of rocks is bounded by tall rocks and has stairwells going up and down. You can see to your right some of the new houses.
**Spiral Mounds**
Once past the pool, follow the path north and look for another tombstone with a circle on it.
When you find it make a right turn (East) and CLIMB, CLIMB, CLIMB!
On the hoverboard the best way to climb is slow and steady keeping your board straight and holding down the up arrow key. Do not touch the mouse keys as either jumping or turbo will cause you to lose traction and fall backwards.
At the top you you will see the moon straight ahead, and a bunch of houses.
Since we are in the neighborhood, let me point
out that there are three models of houses on Tyr. Two are near by, the large
ones are the "Odin" model (named after a Viking deity who was the head
of Valhala). The smaller ones are called "Freyja" (Queen of the
Valkyries, goddess of womanhood). The third model we will see later. Houses in
Tyr are different than on the Tiki Islands, the interiors are round!
Dominating the neighborhood here are three high mounds with a spiral road leading to the top. Climbing these
using the spiral trails is fun
challenge since one wrong turn and you fall to the beginning again.
**Crystal Garden**
When you are done playing on the spiral mounds return to the neighborhood and
find a tombstone marker with the Pi symbols (one side has a triangle above pi, the other has an arrow above pi).
From here, point your board between the two spiral mounds north of the marker and go forward in that direction. Once you clear the pass,
you will find yourself in another neighborhood of Odin's and Freyjas. On the
other side of the neighborhood, you will see a deep gorge ahead of you.
Drop in and fall to the bottom where you will find the spectacular Crystal Garden!
Until the houses went up, this was the only place you could find crystals. This is one of the more spectacular tourist spots in the game, but my favorite
thing to do here is Hoverpack Paintball!
**Crystal Castle**
Without climbing a wall, the only exit is along the north wall. Proceed down this canyon as it curves east then south.
You will come to a break in the path leading upward. Stay to the left and stay low.
Follow the markers with a triangle with horns and an *. This path will generally follow a south east direction.
Eventually, you will arrive at the giant castle.
The castle is fun to explore. There is a moat at the bottom with water and more weird sounds, or you can hoverpack (or walk) to the top and see the crystal which is pretty cool both above and below.
You can also go inside the castle. Just
go to any door and click on the action arrow and you will teleport inside the
castle to a place called "Templar".
**Map Hologram and Coming Soon**
On one side of the castle (the side opposite the side you came from), there is a small arch with a green glow.
Go to the back side of this map (the side opposite the castle) and you will find two difficult to see rooms, one on either side of the map.
This is where we started earlier.
These rooms have displays showing what the makers of There originally had planned for Tyr, including bridge houses and a
more detailed interior inside the castle. It is doubtful the bridge houses will
ever see the light of day, they went with cliff houses instead, but if you hover
up to the highest bridges around the castle, you will find that they have a
"catwalk" on one side that leads to a secret room you can go inside.
NEW! **Loki Houses**
From the hologram, head toward the castle (north) but do not cross the bridge. Instead turn right (east) and follow the road around the castle.
Take the second right turn that you can take. The path is marked XX=M from top to bottom. Head East.
Above your head you will see the cliff side houses dubbed the "Loki" model (The trickster. He was the god of all things mischievous and malevolent). Inside they are the same size as the Freyjas model.
**The Boneyard**
After you pass under a bridge, the path will split in two. Take the left one, it will also say
XX=M.
Once you reach a clearing, you will find yourself in an area with tons of giant vertebrae bones from some
whale, giant monster or dinosaur (take your pick).
This area has become one of the most popular in There. It has replaced "Hoverboard Park" as the most popular place to play.
Everything is allowed here, and everything usually happens here. Many of the bones pointing upward make terrific ramps for stunts.
**Carved Bones**
When you are done playing, head south east toward some pointy hills in that direction.
To your right you will see a cliff face with 11 of those Loki cliff houses.
In the pass on the left side of this wall of houses, you will find another tombstone sign with a familiar circle and a dot symbol. The sky will suddenly get foggy just as you reach this sign.
Follow the path south. The path gets wide and fuzzy at spots, but keep heading toward the lower ground.
Eventually you will find thorny bushes and more vertebrate bones. The fog will get a lot more thicker and you will hear a lot of
creaking noises.
It is a challenge, but make your way through the bushes and bones. Use your mouse buttons (left for turbo, right for ducking and jumping) when you get stuck.
In the middle of these you will find that a couple of the bones are elaborately carved.
**Lightning Bushes**
Keep heading south through the stickers. As soon as the stickers clear, the fog will clear as well.
Stop, and point your board to the right (north west) and CLIMB! CLIMB! CLIMB!
You will probably have to maneuver around some more cliff houses to get to the
top.
When you get to the highest point you can get to, point to the west and you will see a ways ahead a bush growing out of a cliff edge.
It will be on a cliff where there are no houses. Head in that general direction avoiding any falls you can avoid. You should see more bushes as you get closer.
When you get to the edge of the gorge opposite the bushes, drop down into it. When you reach the bottom head left (south) and follow the path.
There are many thorny bushes here, but as you get further in the canyon, the bushes glow with what sounds electric energy.
I guess these are what you would call "current bushes" :)
This ends the hoverboard tour, hope you enjoyed it!

Hoverboard Tour: Cangrejo
This is one of series of exploration guides for There.
** Ebony Rock **
Enter this link in your There Browser to teleport
to the beginning of this tour:
http://webapps.prod.there.com/goto/goto?obj=108078334
Welcome to the north east corner of Cangrejo. This tour will take you to see the highlights of the least visited island in There. There are some interesting places here and there to visit.
Lets start with Ebony Rock overlooking the northwest corner of the island. This trip will end at the south east corner of the island. This island is interesting in that while it may have the least amount of "monuments", it has the most amount of diversity in settings.
A word of warning, this island is made up primarily of fun zones, many like Ebony Rock here do not have walls. Some of them do not allow vehicles, so do not be surprised if the hoverboard suddenly disappears from under you.
** Trees and Really Weird Plants **
Start out heading east toward a grove of trees. In this part of Cangrejo there are three kinds of plants, two of which do not exist anywhere else in There. One is a palm like plant that has what looks like a wilted flower hanging down (cocoanut?), and the other is a two leaf purple plant.
From the grove keep heading east till you reach another funzone Lava Flats.
** Hidden Spiral Trench **
From the front entrance to Lava flats point your board south toward a lonely grove of trees in the distance. Then ride to it. As you travel you will go through two shallow ditches. Once you arrive at the grove, take a look around. See anything special?
Try looking in Aerial View / High Zoom, you are in the middle of a hidden spiral trench.
You can follow the trench or just head east to Blue Cove funzone.
** Highest Point on Cangrejo **
From Blue Cove look to the north east and you will see a fairly high mountain with a green top. This is our next stop so start riding. The road will take you over a hill with trees on top again then down in to a deep canyon, this is the "north road" according to the map, this canyon runs the length of the island.
Continue on up the steep hill on the other side. Remember when you climb up a hill on a hoverboard it is best to not use Turbo or Jump, and just go straight as possible.
Once you are on top you will find the Jungle Slope funzone. This is the home of New Member Social Services that hands out freebies to new players, and provides classes on almost everything. Since this is the place for new members to come, they recently added 9 vending machines to borrow stuff to play with.
From the front entrance, turn around and take a look at one of the best views in There. You can see the whole island bathed in a purple sunset, and event the "small island" out in the distance.
Head northwest to the edge of the summit for another spectacular view. Misty Ridge is the funzone at the bottom of the hill and on the next hill over is Top of the World. You can also see the first of three frontier zones that have been around before Motu-Motu was ever built. Oh and of course that big island you see across the way is indeed Motu-Motu.
** Sunrise **
Drop down into the canyon South West of here, when you reach the bottom turn left (South East) and follow the canyon ahead. You will pass a pretty bay on the right, just as the road turns to the left. Keep heading straight (south west) up the hill toward a grove of palm trees.
There are three different varieties of palm trees around here, short with round palms, medium with what looks like cumquats and tall with long leaves. All three can be found from time to time on other Tiki Islands, but this is the only spot I know of where all three are together.
Continue to head south east till you find another fun zone, it is Mosquito Mesa, run by Ponder who like to build weird tracks for hover bikes. Go around to the front entrance.
Notice as you go around the sun looks to be rising as the clouds are losing their purple and starting to look gray instead. Turn around to the north and you will see the sun rising over the mountain we were on earlier.
** Lavender Hill **
From the front entrance of Mosquito Mesa, follow the cream path between the hills to the south. Head towards the big mountain in the distance and climb to the top. As you get to the hill you will pass over a nice flat plain which makes for a good spot for a PAZ if you are looking for a good place off the beaten path.
Climb to the top of the hill and you will find lavender violet flowers everywhere. Mixed with the dark green grass this makes for a very pretty place.
** Passage Beach and the Small Island **
From Lavender funzone head South West down the mountain. The beach based funzone you see as you go down is Passage Beach. This is one of two campfires on Cangrejo (the other is behind the Spice Slope Stage on the northern tip of the island), and it is the ONLY campfire housed in a funzone anywhere, making this a popular party spot.
Across the bay is the Small Island which is apparently its name according to the maps of There. Feel free to visit it if you wish, it used to be off limits to vehicles, but not anymore.
If you are looking for a secluded romantic spot, climb to the top of the Small Island where the Island Retreat funzone is. There are three logs nearby you can sit on as a couple, bathed in a romantic purple sunset, with excellent views all around.
** Rainforest **
From Passage Beach, head directly East over the mountain again, when you get to some palm trees, turn North East and you should find Grass Valley funzone, this place has been designated "buggies only", but you can usually find a track here set up to play on and do laps.
Continue to head North East and you will find that canyon we were following earlier. Drop down then climb up the other side. When you get to the other side look around for some palm trees to the east (they may be hidden by some hills) these palm trees are in a unique funzone called Rainforest Plateau.
This zone is by default vehicles not allowed. But, get off your board and go stand in the middle of the zone. Then click on Aerial View / Medium Zoom. I do not know what made that foot print, but I know I do not want to run into it any time soon.
** Dune Beach **
From the Rainforest front entrance, head roughly south between the two hills. You should eventually find a sandy road to follow. Keep following it south towards the water in the distance. As you hit the beach the sunrise sky should turn to a mid day blue sky and then a red dusty sky indicative of desert.
The beach you arrive at is uniquely rough with sand dunes. A great place for buggy joy riding, and not too bad for hoverboards either. We are now in the south part of the island.
** Balanced Rocks and Saguaros**
From the palm trees on Dune Beach head directly south east. You will climb a hill and on top you will see a unique balanced rock formation.
From here continue on a south east path aiming between the two hills you see in that direction. This whole region is covered in short Saguaro Cacti.
Real Saguaro's are one of the most famous desert plants of North America, they are primarily located in the states of Arizona, New Mexico, and Sonora Mexico. They usually grow about 10 meters high even before they start sprouting limbs, so these ones here are remarkably short.
** Hidden Spring **
Continue South East behind the Banded Rock Paintball Zone. Once again you will hit that canyon, and once again just drive to the other side.
There are two new plants this region, spooky dead trees which are more famously found in Tabu (see my Desert Tour), and a five pointed plant which is supposed to be an Aloe Vera plant. Real Aloe Vera's can be sliced open and the oily substance inside can soothe sunburns (a remarkable thing to have in the desert). Now they are farmed and harvested to add to cosmetic and skin care products.
There is a small funzone here too. This zone is called Hidden Spring and houses a rare fountain in the middle. You can actually sit in the edge of this fountain and stick your feet in. Good place to sit and relax after a long journey.
This ends the hoverboard tour, hope you enjoyed it!
